Governor Rendell Speaks At Green Awards Dinner

Governor Ed Rendell was the featured speaker at a dinner and awards ceremony on May 27 to honor five environmental programs in western Pennsylvania.

Linda McKenna Boxx, President of the Allegheny Trail Alliance was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Pennsylvania Environmental Council and Richmond, Va.-based energy producer Dominion.

The Council and Dominion also honored Northern Ambridge Redevelopment Project of New Brighton, Pa.; Bartramian Audubon Society of Slippery Rock , Pa.; Stonycreek Conemaugh River Improvement Project of Johnstown, Pa.; TASOW, Inc. of Slippery Rock; and the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy in Blairsville, Pa.

Dominion and the Pennsylvania Environmental Council partnered in 2003 to establish the Western Pennsylvania Environmental Awards Program to recognize outstanding achievements of organizations, businesses, and individuals in a wide range of environmental initiatives.
