Sustainability in Idaho

Our GREENandSAVE Staff is always on the lookout for cost-effective energy savings to help businesses in Idaho become more sustainable. The Energy Intelligence Center has developed some excellent Chiller Plant Energy Savings ranging from 15% to 40% via their OptikW algorithmic software platform. The software solutions do not require new equipment and the compensation for the services is paved on the savings generated. This is a win/win for businesses and the environment.

Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Optimization are core strengths of the Energy Intelligence Center. As sensor and control technology continues to improve, their team has demonstrated proven results using their advanced logic that leverages ambient conditions like temperature, humidity, and dew point to optimize HVAC systems.

“The Co-ops stores in Boise and Meridian are going 100 percent renewable for the rest of 2020 and next year. The Co-op will cover its estimated 2,400-megawatt hours of energy use in 2021 by purchasing 95 percent of its renewable energy from solar plants and five percent from wind turbines through an agreement with Idaho Power and the Green Power program.

‘Doing the right thing for our members, our community and the world beyond us has always been at the heart of the Co-op’s values,’ said Mo Valko, Director of Marketing at the Boise Co-op. ‘Going 100% renewable and supporting clean, efficient energy for Idaho and our neighboring states of Oregon and Washington is one way we can fulfill that mission. We are so excited to take this important step in our commitment to sustainability.’”
