French president Emmanuel Macron opened a door last week to "green" clean technology partnerships with US scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs.

Tonight, I wish to tell the United States: France believes in you. The world believes in you. I know that you are a great nation. I know your history – our common history.
To all scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, responsible citizens who were disappointed by the decision of the President of the United States, I want to say that they will find in France a second homeland. I call on them: Come and work here with us, to work together on concrete solutions for our climate, our environment.
I can assure you: France will not give up the fight.

The ripple effect of the message may extend beyond individual scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs to established companies. As an example, the timing of president Macron's announcement is excellent for US clean technology companies like Independence LED Lighting (www.IndependenceLED.com) that have been looking to increase the adoption of their US made LEDs in Europe. Now, instead of just exporting, they may start to explore joint venture opportunities with the French government and private companies to open a sibling manufacturing plant in France to service Europe. By having one or more additional production facilities in Europe, the US companies can reduce the transportation cost and CO2 emissions of moving products across the Atlantic.
