Emmy-award winning television anchor and certified nutritional consultant Janet Zappala, whose new cookbook is slated for a spring 2010 release will debut some of her recipes at a cooking demo on Friday, May 8 from 12-1 at La Cucina at the Market at Reading Terminal Market.

The Market Kitchen at 12th and Market streets will play host as Zappala demos a few of her delicious, easy to make, healthy home-style recipes. Audience members will get to see how these original recipes are prepared, and after tasting they can vote for the ones they would like to see in her finished cookbook.

“My book features comfort foods, simple, delicious and healthy recipes that anyone can make. I was lucky enough to have a mother who loved to cook and who was quite an ace in the kitchen, she created some real treasures, and now I now want to share those treasures with the world,” says Zappala.

While most of the recipes are Italian, there’s a smattering of other tasty foods as well, including mouth-watering desserts, sweet treats for any time of year, from everyday dinners to special occasions and holidays. Every recipe is kitchen-tested and healthy, as a nutritional consultant Zappala, made sure of that. Her collection of recipes caters to every style of cook, especially ones looking to create “comfort” foods easily and in very little time.

The event is free, but to get in on the delicious taste-test, and to have your feedback contributed to the upcoming book Ms. Zappala is writing, you must first register for the event by calling this number: 215-922-1170.
