I’m sure we all spend at least part of our workdays in the same manner; surfing around online on different websites, trying to pass the time. Well, don’t let anyone tell you that it isn’t productive because I found a goldmine of wonderful when I stumbled upon the Animal Rescue Site .

This is a website where you can help feed shelter and sanctuary animals for free just by clicking on the link on the homepage. I thought, “What a great idea” and gave it a little click and instantly donated .6 bowls of food and spent nothing. Then, I saw a link to their online shop and I was blown away. You can purchase a vast assortment of products, many of them made from organic or recycled materials, and each purchase provides bowls of food for shelter animals. This is better than any 2 for 1 deal I’ve ever known.

I bought a beautiful organic cotton wrap dress yesterday for only $18 (cheaper than you could find anywhere else I imagine), and with it, 14 bowls of food were given. I then decided pick up a gentle-leader collar for my dog ($19), and 28 more bowls of food were donated, and then a $5 candle holder for a Father’s Day present donated another 14 bowls of food. I couldn’t believe it. I was helping animals without even doing anything other than buying things I would have bought anyway! So I kept searching, there is such a range of products that you can find something for anyone, and any pet.

I thought I was done, but there is so much to the website. I think my favorite thing is the “Gifts that give more” section of the store. With this section, you can donate money to some great causes, from vaccinating animals in local shelters and helping rescue victims of natural disasters, to helping liberate girls from indentured servitude. There are so many options and so many causes that need your support, and you will know where your money is going and what it is doing. But hey, if you aren’t able to spare some funds to help these causes out, you can always click to give food for free and do your good deed of the day!

I set my calendar to remind me every day to click to give. You can also sign up on “the Animal Rescue Site”to receive daily reminder emails, and you can also choose to receive newsletters about what’s going on and what they are doing to help.

So check out the store, and if you find something you like, toot your own horn and tell the world that you got a great deal and helped out some animals in need at the same time! Or, donate to a cause you think is worthy and feel good knowing you had a hand in changing the life of a person or animal that desperately needed help. You’ll be glad you did and hopefully you’ll inspire others to do the same!
