Office Radiant Floors

Spend $4,000 now and SAVE $374 each year... ROI = 9.4%

Heating and Cooling accounts for about 40% of an office's energy cost. The US average ten person office generates $278 of cost per employee for a total annual Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) cost of $2,785. For an office of ten that needs four months of heating, the average monthly cost is $312. The annual seasonal cost is $1,248. Water or Electric radiant systems increase comfort and decrease heating costs by up to 30%. The savings are more like 40% in homes because of the night time residential use versus offices, which are typically empty at night with the heat shut down to lower than residential levels. An additional advantage of radiant systems is that they are also silent without the noise of blowers or fans.

Even heat radiates up through the office floor. You can put it under the existing floor between the joists for existing rooms or just under the finish material for new rooms. It can be used with any flooring, including carpet, hardwood, laminate and linoleum, but 'high-mass' materials like slate, marble, or tile hold the heat longer and save you more money. For higher performance use a thermal mass floor to hold the heat, and for a real boost, combine it with a Solar hot water Thermal system to the radiant floor water pipes, and let the sun help heat your office.

The ROI Calculation is based on $1,000 square feet of radiant floor. A typical office of ten employees us about 2,500 sq. ft. but not every area may be right for Radiant Floors.
